Anxiety has been a part of my life since I was fourteen. I’ve been on multiple forms of anti-anxiety and results have ranged from barely noticeable change to “This is making me feel worse.” On each anti-anxiety medication I tried, I went from barely functioning while having a panic attack, to barely functioning because I was drugged up. I felt like a zombie, like I didn’t care about anything, and my emotions were completely wiped away. Since getting off medication, I’ve been experimenting with natural ways of staving off anxiety attacks/generalized anxiety. I’ve tried herbal remedies, L-Theanine, and regular meditation… all worked in some ways, but weren’t quite *enough* to rid myself of anxiety. This is where CBD came into my life.
CBD has been hugely popular as of late. I’d tried it in the recent past, but as I didn’t have easy access to any in my state, I fell off of the habit and didn’t quite feel the effects. With more and more research being published on its benefits, companies have been cropping up that offer many doses and forms of CBD. One such company is Vitalife.
Disclaimer: I am not an affiliate of Vitalife, as they do not have an affiliate program yet—this is truly a product I believe in and want to share with my readers. The experiences I have had with CBD oil are my experiences alone. I cannot speak to the efficacy of CBD for every person—everyone is different. I am not a medical professional, and this review is not a claim to success for each patient. Consult your medical professional to see if CBD is right for you.
Vitalife’s CBD oils and capsules contain only the essential ingredients: MCT oil and Full-Spectrum CBD (Cannabidiol). I’ll explain what these ingredients are, and how they’ve come together to form a CBD product that I truly stand behind.
Head shops around me now claim to sell CBD, but a friend of mine in the cannabis industry reassured me that my concern about quality was completely justified. Many of these shops sell CBD products at low prices, and you get what you pay for: low-quality carrier oils and unnecessary additives. Finding CBD oil with safe ingredients was of top priority for me.
MCT (Medium-Chain Triglycerides) oil is a very high-quality carrier oil. MCT oil, in Vitalife’s definition, is a “fat-burning, metabolism revving superfood saturated fatty acid made from coconut oil.” Vitalife uses MCT oil to stabilize and increase the bioavailability of the CBD. without the use of any additives or unnatural ingredients.
Full-Spectrum CBD (Cannabidiol)
There are many CBD products on the market that contain cannabidiol as an isolated ingredient. CBD is effective on it’s own–however, using the full spectrum of cannabinoids in the cannabis plant has been proven to produce even more effective results.
Full-spectrum CBD products contain not only CBD, but also have trace amounts of THC, CBN, CBG, and other cannabinoids that all join together to form a product with effective healing properties. These all work together to heal, without the high.
*It is important to note that Vitalife’s product contains less than 0.3% THC. This makes it legal in all 50 states.*
“CBD isn’t the only substance in cannabis that possesses healing properties,” an article on Vitalife’s blog explains. “When you take a full-spectrum, or whole-plant, CBD preparation, you’re taking in a little bit of all of these compounds… The end result is a more potent CBD product that is much more likely to address the health problems it’s used for.” Scientists call this the “entourage effect.” Read more about the entourage effect at Vitalife’s blog.
Vitalife’s CBD is extracted from organically-grown domestic hemp. This means your purchase supports organic hemp farmers in the US. Love it!
I started with the 500mg bottle, which is Vitalife’s most popular strength. I’ve taken it under my tongue, but have found it’s easier to take with smoothies and hot drinks, as the taste is strong.
It takes about three weeks to see the full effects, but I felt a difference in just four days. I started out taking approximately 8mg per day, and increased to 16mg in my second week. 16mg seems to be a great dosage for me at the moment.
After a week of daily use, muscle soreness lessened, my concentration increased, and I was feeling more level-headed.
I also came to a realization: anxiety has been consistently bubbling beneath the surface throughout most of my life. It’s like my anxiety was simmering on the stove, and it never went away. There was always some heat behind it, and sometimes it would boil over.
Treatment with CBD isn’t really about what you feel—it’s about what you don’t feel. When I didn’t feel that simmering anxiety after a week, I could almost feel my outward personality changing. I felt more like me. I felt in control of my emotions, and wasn’t riding the range to extremes any longer.
It has been two weeks since I’ve had a full-fledged anxiety attack, and I attribute most of that success to Vitalife’s product. It keeps my anxiety at bay without turning me into a zombie. Alongside the other natural solutions I’ve found to heal my anxiety and depression, this product is a total game-changer.
